Description
Professional work managing and implementing aspects of the Public Works/Engineering capital improvement program with the main focus on plan preparation, right-of-way acquisition, and construction. Directly accountable for the implementation of all production activities of the Public Works/Engineering capital improvement program with the main focus on highway plan production and construction. Supervises and manage employees that are responsible for the implementation of the capital programs within Public Works/Engineering.
**Salary will be determined depending on qualifications of candidates who exceed the minimum requirements as outlined within the job description.
**Additional compensation based on licensure.
Essential Functions
Acts as County Engineer during his/her absence.
Interacts with consultants, public, County staff, and elected officials.
Develops, reviews, and implement the Engineering Division’s Capital Improvement Program. Performs program management on the eight different capital programs within the Engineering
Division and oversees the prioritization and resource allocation within each program.
Serves on numerous regional transportation committees to develop policies and long-range goals and programs.
Participates in selection and contracting of consultants, determines project costs for engineering projects, manages financial oversight of invoices and budget matters and approvals, tracks scheduled progress of design and construction activities, reports all aspects of project progress and issues to the County Engineer, and prepares solutions to issues for design and construction projects.
Serves as the County's engineering authority on roadway design and standards.
Coordinates with other County Departments and with State and Federal agencies to provide engineering services or complete engineering projects as assigned. Serves as liaison for FDOT projects.
Extensive knowledge and understanding of roadway design, traffic engineering and/or roadway drainage design.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and ten (10) years responsible engineering experience required.
Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Florida.
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.
Additional Requirements
Ability to evaluate information, make decisions and coordinate programs efficiently.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with subordinates, County personnel in other offices, various technical groups and the general public.
All employees must attend Seminole County Required Trainings.
Department Specific trainings per position may be required.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties.
