Job Responsibilities:
(1) providing or assisting with direct resident care and activities of daily living as needed under the direction of licensed nursing staff in accordance with Lutheran Haven’s Mission, (2) utilizing safety measures in provision of care, (3) fostering resident independence, dignity and choice while supervising medication self-administration, ADL’s and recreational activities etc., (4) observing, recording and reporting residents’ physical and emotional conditions, (5) maintaining a comfortable, and clean environment for the residents, (6) preventing spread of disease and infection by following established universal precautions, and (7) attending staff meetings, classes and on-going in-service programs to improve knowledge and skills.
Qualifications:
(1) have a current certification in the State of Florida as a nursing assistant or show proof of application for reciprocity from another state, or proof of application for test seat. Florida certification must be obtained within 120 days of employment, (2) have 4 hour Medication Administration Certificate, (3) attend HIV/AIDS training per state regulations, (4) have a current CPR card is required, (5) demonstrate attention to detail, (6) be able to read, write, and speak effectively and understandably on the phone and in person to identify and meet resident needs and to follow written and oral instructions from supervisors, (7) be able to manage difficult or emotional resident/family member situations, (8) be able to attend and participate in in-services classes, on the job programs as scheduled and directed, (9) be able to operate department equipment according to standard procedures, and (10) be willing to work overtime, on weekends, and in other positions when necessary.
